New Vietnam Gallery popular choice for Museum visitors...
The Command Museum’s Education program officially started in May 2005.   The mission of the program is to build a bridge to the civilian community for the purpose of enriching the educational experience of junior and senior high school students, college students, and the visiting public.  At the museum, students have the opportunity to handle artifacts and participate in educational challenges. The program has a variety of lesson plans that dove tail with the California education standards, and the new Vietnam Gallery is one of the most popular choices this year.

During the history lesson as they walk through the gallery, students are assisted with a guide book that is the catalog for the exhibit. The catalog contains photographs of the artifacts and in depth explanations of what the Marines experienced in Vietnam.

Vietnam is just one aspect of Marine Corps history being taught in the museum.  Ten lesson plans have been developed for World War I, World War II, African-Americans in the Corps and Women Marines  The lesson plans are designed to meet California Educational Standards, and can include off-site lectures and Veteran led groups on campus.
